Introduction of Floribus Collections

Floribus Origin

"Floribus" is a famous photo collection by Mónika Herrán, celebrating the beauty and diversity of Colombian flowers. The idea for "Floribus" came from a memory of Mónika Herrán, when she picked up a poppy flower and put it in the pages of a book she was carrying. A while later, when she opened the book, she discovered that the flower was still there, just as beautiful. From then on, she decided to photograph the dried and fresh flowers she collected on the streets of Cali, in the bushes and trees in the greenest areas of the city as well as on the streets and sidewalks of the Valle del Cauca province.

The photographs in this collection are made through a unique method, she will photograph or press flowers and then illuminate them, creating vivid, artistic images. With Floribus, Ms. Mónika Herrán wants to bring the enjoyment of this aesthetic pleasure through the mediation of her vision, of her artistic interpretation to everyone.

Besides expressing aesthetic beauty, the works in "Floribus" also carry deep meanings, honoring the great explorers, Alexander Von Humboldt and Aime Bonpland, who made the first studies of nature in Colombia in the 19th century.
